The challenge
Batch temperature drift was causing rework on a chilled product line. The existing exchangers were difficult to open for cleaning, and the air cooler defrost cycle interfered with room temperature control.
Project route
Approach
- Review of batch heat load and cleaning cycle.
- Gasketed plate exchangers with inspection access and EPDM gaskets.
- Air cooler selected for low-frost operation and drainability.
- Replacement coil schedule with measured-to-fit dimensions.
- Cleaning and torque guidance issued with the manuals.
Result
- Stable leaving temperature across the batch cycle.
- Cleaning access without dismantling adjacent pipework.
- Reduced defrost frequency and product rework.
